100 Years!

More than just a New York tradition, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a cherished piece of American history—and this year marks its 100th anniversary. Since its debut in 1924, the parade has grown from a modest procession of employees and live animals into a dazzling spectacle of giant balloons, vibrant floats, and Broadway performances, captivating millions of spectators each year.

For more than 25 years, photographer E.A. Kahane has captured the magic of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade from her third-floor apartment window on Central Park West at 64th Street. Her new book, Come Join the Parade!, is perfectly timed for the parade’s centennial, offering a joyful compilation of her photographs.
